Detectives at Barnet are appealing for witnesses following a rape in Sunny Hill Park over the weekend.
On Friday 19th June at 23.00 going into the early hours of Saturday 20th June a 22year old woman was in Sunny Hill Park, Sunningfields Road, London NW4. when she was approached and taken to a secluded area by two suspects who raped her.
Following the attack the victim attempted to leave the park when two women and a man who came to her aide and took her home.
The victim contacted police the following day.
Acting Detective Inspector Neil Rawlinson, of Barnet Police Sapphire Unit said:
“The 22 year old victim was walking in the park to get some fresh air when she was attacked.”
“Prior to the attack the victim was walking with an elderly man and his dog and was chatting to him about the dog, following the attack three people came to the victims aide and took her home. These people may have vital evidence and we urge them to contact us.”
“This was an attack on a lone female and we need the help of the public to identify these offenders.”
“It is highly possible that the two men may have been apart prior to or after the attack and may have appeared to be alone.”
“I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area or who recognises either of the suspects from their description to please come forward.”
“Incidents such as these are extremely rare but understandably can cause great concern to the local community. Patrols in the park have been increased but we would encourage women to avoid poorly lit and secluded areas.”
